DOMBROW

On March 21, 1927, Bernard Dombrow was born. He is survived by daughter Paula Dombrow and her daughter Betelhem Dombrow; Julie Klein and her husband Scott Klein and their children Devorah Chanah, Tziporah Malkah and Shaul Zev; and Neil Dombrow and his wife Allison Dombrow and their children Madeline, Kalya and Jake; and his sister Miriam Joachim. He was born in Cordova, Ala., to Morris and Mae Dombrow, who moved their family to Bay City, Texas, when he was 9 years old. He went to the University of Texas in Austin where he studied accounting. At 17, he enlisted in the navy during WWII. He and Betty were married on Dec. 2, 1951. Betty’s family owned several drug stores called Texas Drug Store in Galveston, and they invited him into the family business. He went back to school and got a degree in pharmacy. He opened another Texas Drug Store where Betty worked alongside him for many years. In 2008 they moved to Baltimore after Hurricane Ike devastated Galveston.
