On June 29, Jack Merlin Epstein of Ellicott City at 78. He is survived by wife Lesley Greenberg; sons Michael Epstein (Melissa Hammer), Adam (Amanda) Epstein and Marc Epstein; brother Sandy Epstein (Elizabeth Appley); grandchildren Sonia Epstein, Audrey Epstein, Jordan Epstein, Joshua Epstein, Alyssa Greenberg, Sammy Greenberg, Alon Greenberg, Ayelet Greenberg, Layla Bowman and Aaron Bowman; stepchildren Daniel (Lauri) Greenberg, Michael Greenberg (Tamar Rubinstein) and Jessica (Jason) Bowman; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by first wife Judi Epstein and parents Joseph and Sunny Epstein. He served as a special vehicle mechanic in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He then worked as an engineer for The Coca-Cola Company before moving to Miami to work at Sea Isle, Inc. with his father-in-law. In 1975, he and the family relocated to Maryland, where he started Hill’s Gourmet Gifts and, later, Chesapeake Sales, a confectionary brokerage. He was an active member of Temple Isaiah in Columbia and the Merlin Family Circle.
