The Associated’s Jewish Volunteer Connection (JVC) will lead Community Mitzvah Week, a week of doing good and helping our community in need. Based off the highly successful Mitzvah Day, JVC will pivot from a day to a week-long event, offering more volunteer opportunities that can be done at home or socially distanced within the community. This week long event will be filled with meaningful service opportunities and learning experiences. Volunteer opportunities will meet the vital community needs and are available for all ages, abilities, schedules and comfort levels. Opportunities include assembling winter care packages, making fleece blankets, packing lunches, preparing women’s self-care kits, writing notes of encouragement and creating mugs of love. Items will be distributed to individuals and organizations within the community.
Volunteers are also expected to assemble and deliver more than 2,000 care packages of winter essentials (hand-knitted scarves and hats by local community members, gloves, toiletries, snacks, etc.) to local homeless shelters.
