Join Jewish Community Services for an intimate conversation with Nic Sheff, whose heartbreaking and inspiring struggle with substance use disorder is the story of “Beautiful Boy,” a major motion picture starring Timothée Chalamet as Nic and Steve Carell as his father, David.
Nic will share a personal, unglamorized story of substance abuse and recovery that is deeply rooted in mental illness, including its impact on those who love him.
Recognized as “a life-changing speaker,” Nic puts a compelling human face on our nation’s substance abuse epidemic, encouraging those who struggle to embrace help and bringing hope to all who are touched by it.
Andrea K. McDaniels, award-winning Health & Medicine Reporter for The Baltimore Sun, will interview Nic. There will be an opportunity for audience Q&A following the interview.
Sponsored by Jewish Community Services, Catholic Charities, MedStar Health, Behavioral Health System Baltimore, NAMI of Metropolitan Baltimore, Maryland Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence, and Baltimore Magazine.
Support for the event also provided by the Marilyn and David Carp Philanthropic Fund, Joan G. Klein Fund for Substance Use Disorders, and Jill Fox Memorial Fund, Inc.
