While it will look a little different this year due to the pandemic, The Arc Baltimore’s Art in the Round will still go on.

The annual art exhibit and auction showcasing the talent and artistry of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities will be held virtually on Friday, October 23, beginning at 7 p.m.

Leading up to the big event, The Arc Baltimore will host two other virtual events, both of which will stream live:

• On Thursday, October 8, a Kickoff Event will debut the artist profile video and open both the virtual art gallery to view selected artworks and Handbid registration. The Kickoff will also feature the launch of “Color Our World,” a Crowdfunding challenge campaign that enables donors to fundraise in honor of one of The Arc Baltimore’s Hall of Fame artists.

• On Thursday, October 15, Curator Night will feature guests from Baltimore’s art community, all of whom will curate this year’s artwork.

Bidding for this Year’s Art in the Round artwork – which will include about 50 pieces of art – will begin on Monday, October 19. All Art in the Round artwork is chosen by a selection committee of art enthusiasts from more than 140 pieces submitted. Look for the Handbid app registration information on The Arc’s website so you can bid on your mobile device.

“COVID has challenged us all, but The Arc Baltimore has responded by holding our annual Art in the Round event virtually and launching our ‘Color Our World’ campaign, both of which provide but a small sample of the beautiful colors people with disabilities offer to our world,” says The Arc’s Chief Executive Officer, Kathleen McNally Durkin.

“Color Our World” replaces the normal mission appeal which takes place live during Art in the Round. Over the past 18 years, Art in the Round has become The Arc Baltimore’s most anticipated annual event and one of the organization’s top fund raisers.

Proceeds from this year’s Art in the Round go to the organization’s COVID Relief Fund to help sustain programs and supports for people with developmental disabilities.

Virtual ticket donations for Art in the Round are $25 per person and $250 for a reserved table. Virtual attendees can enjoy all aspects of the event and will receive a 2021 art calendar. In addition, 60% of winning bids on each piece of artwork go to the artist.
