A small fire broke out during the early-morning hours on Dec. 18 at the main building of the Pearlstone Retreat Center in Reisterstown that caused minor damage to several spaces before being doused.
No one was hurt and all guests were rapidly accounted for as first responders from the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company were quickly on the scene to control the fire and ensure the safety of guests and staff.
Despite the fire, guests were able to use alternative meeting spaces for programming to minimize any possible disruptions. The Associated assisted in efforts to keep the doors open and make sure everything continued to run smoothly.
The main building has minor fire and water damage that the organization says will take several weeks to repair, adding that contractors are on the scene. The spaces should be operational again in January.
“We are grateful to the first responders for helping and being on site so quickly and to The Associated for their continued consistent support,” said Becky Brenner and Liz Minkin-Friedman, Pearlstone Advisory Board co-chairs, and Jakir Manela, the CEO of Pearlstone, in a joint statement.
