Frona Greenspun (nee Conn), of Towson, passed away on April 28 at the age of 90. She is survived by her loving children, Michael (Carol) Greenspun and Minna (Rob) Pomeroy; caring sister, Betty (Stan) Kornblum; and beloved grandchildren, Allie (Erik) Kaczynski, Jordan Greenspun, Caity Greenspun, Bennett Greenspun, Aidan Pomeroy and Lyla Pomeroy. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Gordon Greenspun; and dear parents Dorothy and Allen Conn. Born in Newport News, Virginia, Frona Greenspun was a true Southern belle whose warmth, charm, and grace remained a defining part of her throughout her life. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (Women’s College) with a Bachelor’s degree in Education, and soon after graduation moved to Baltimore as a newly hired second grade teacher at Wellwood Elementary School, beginning a lifelong connection to learning, children, and community. It was in Baltimore that she met her husband, Gordon. What began as a friendship grew into something lasting and full of humor. She would often tell him about her dates until one day he lovingly said, “I don’t want to hear about your dates—I want to be your date.” They were married in 1960, beginning a devoted partnership filled with love, laughter, and shared life. In 1962, Frona began her second career as a full-time mother, cook, driver, and steadfast cheerleader for her children, Michael and Minna, pouring her heart into her family. After years devoted to raising her children, Frona returned to the workforce in the 1980s and 1990s, working at Osler Pharmacy in Towson as a clerk, where she was appreciated for her kindness and steady presence. In the late 1990s, she and Gordon became Florida snowbirds in Boynton Beach, embracing new adventures together and taking classes at Florida Atlantic University, among many other shared interests. Frona and Gordon traveled the world extensively and frequently with her sister Betty and brother-in-law Stan, visiting destinations across Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, and beyond, embracing adventure and creating lasting memories together. Frona was deeply devoted to her faith and community, remaining an active participant in Beth El Sisterhood and Hadassah for much of her life. In a meaningful and proud milestone, she became a Bat Mitzvah at the age of 59 at Beth El, reflecting her lifelong commitment to learning and spiritual growth. She was an avid Mahjong and Bridge player, a devoted reader, and someone who found joy in both conversation and quiet moments. Above all, Frona was a loving grandmother who adored her grandchildren and made them feel endlessly cherished—creating a home where “what happens at Nana’s stays at Nana’s.”
