The Jewish Community Center’s Camp Milldale celebrated its 60th birthdaty this week with a cake, special activities and a visit by Mama Doni, who
performs funky music with a Jewish twist.
Mama Doni, whose real name is Doni Zasloff Thomas, is a mom, music teacher, songwriter and lead singer in the Mama Doni Band, which was honored with a 2011 Parents Choice Award for its CD, “Shabbat Shaboom.” The band also won the Simcha Award for “Inspiring Joy Through Music” in competition with more than 100 bands from 15 different countries at the International Jewish Music Festival in Amsterdam.
Mama Doni helped the Milldale campers celebrate the camp’s birthday with her zest and high energy.
