On January 30, Howard Friedman of Wausau, Wis., at 64. He is survived by his wife Oona Friedman; sons Dylan Friedman and Noah Marshall; niece Katie Stoler; cousins Wendy Diener, her husband Stuart, as well as their children and grandchildren; Ross Pollock, his wife Ilene and their children; Susan Flax, her husband Gary and their children; uncle Marvin and aunt Frances Friedman; cousins Steven Friedman, his wife Carolyn and children; and Ken Friedman and his wife Erica and children. He leaves many friends and people who loved him, especially Nathan John, Bruce Nelson, David Bookoff, Stuart Baron, Scott Olshansky, Kimberly Raffensparger, Dave and Maureen Wahlstrom, Matt and Elizabeth Uppenbrink, Mariel Farlow, Monica Chandler, Peter Alexanian, Armando Conforti and Larry Carter. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Mindy Stoler. He had an extraordinary ability to relate to children. For years before his affliction, he gave talks and led classes to children, passing on his love of organic gardening and respect for the earth.

He was a loving, involved father to two amazing young men: Dylan Friedman and his stepson, Noah Marshall. He was an attentive and loving husband to Oona. Although physically unable to walk or move his arms for the past few years, he never allowed ALS to hinder his love of life. The more ill he became, the more positive he became.
