On May 14, Howard B. Gersh of Baltimore at 85. He is survived by wife of 64 years Edie (née Lichter); children Dr. Steven Gersh (Dr. Diane Lebedeff), Shelley Foland (David Summe) and Ellen (Steven) Gottsegen; grandchildren Morgan (Bobby) Quinn, Carly Foland, Chad Gottsegen (Carly Fisher), Jason Foland (Amber Anthony), Jake Gottsegen (Jamie Goldstein), AJ Gersh, Mallory Gersh and Madison Gottsegen; great-grandchildren Logan and Hunter Quinn; and brother Alan (Beverly) Gersh. Also loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by parents Mildred and Jack Gersh. He was first and foremost a family man who provided endless love and support to his wife, brother, sisters-in-law, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. For 27 years he was a proud prosecutor for the Homicide Division of the Assistant State’s Attorney’s Office for Baltimore City. He then served as the legal director for the Baltimore County Police Department with his respected colleague and friend, Terry Sheridan. His career continued as the prosecutor for the Maryland State Police Department. He had the privilege of teaching as an adjunct criminal justice professor for 43 years at his alma mater, the University of Baltimore School of Law. He also served on the first board of directors of the Maryland Food Bank. He dedicated his life and found incredible joy in helping others in their careers and personal life. He will be remembered by his countless contributions, his passion for justice and his steadfast commitment to his family.
