Israel and Hillarycare

The Republican Jewish Coalition (“Eyes on Adelson,” Jan. 23) is committed to the view that there should be no “significant daylight between the United States and Israel” on
significant policy matters. In other words: What is good enough for
Israel is good enough for America.

Jewish religious law (halacha) regards health care as a right, not a privilege. Further, according to research conducted by former Baltimorean Rabbi Dr. Alan Yuter (a  Republican, by the way), it even prefers a single-payer system — the U.S. equivalent to which was Hillarycare. Which is what the citizens of the State of Israel today enjoy. And it works quite well. So, whence Republican Jews’ opposition to Obamacare, a pale replacement for Hillarycare?

Never miss a story.
