Jay Barry Janney, of Randallstown, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, at the age of 85.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie Goldbloom Janney; loving children, Michelle Janney Foels and Leana Margot Janney; cherished daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Janney; sister, Louise Janney (Stuart N.) Schuchalter; sister-in-law, Ronnie B. Janney; and treasured grandchildren, Ellen Spunt (Zachary) Fernande, Salem B. Foels, Alyssa Foels, Bethany Foels Heinrich, Benjamin and Avery.
Jay was sadly predeceased by his adored and loving son, Robert Lee Maurice Janney; brother, Herbert Edwin Janney; and loving parents, Nathan and Bernice Janney.
Jay was a proud graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, and a passionate and skilled athlete, enjoying both racquetball and basketball. A true Baltimore sports fan through and through, he rooted faithfully for the Colts, Ravens, and Orioles throughout his life.
Jay was known for his outgoing nature, jovial spirit, and the way he struck up conversation with just about anyone.
He was a loyal and devoted husband, father, and provider—someone who quietly loved dogs, always looked for the best in people, and worked hard at every job he had. He was well-liked, deeply respected and respectful, a true gentleman, and genuinely interested in others.
Whether through a warm conversation or a kind gesture, Jay always tried to make someone smile. He will be dearly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
