Jennifer Brown, née Bernhardt, age 62, passed away peacefully on June 21 after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

A devoted wife, mother, daughter, aunt and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Born and raised in Baltimore, Jennifer was the beloved daughter of Rita and the late Len Bernhardt.

She graduated from Goucher College, and in her twenties, her love of skiing led her to Aspen, Colorado, where she met her future husband, Tom Brown. Together, they shared 36 wonderful years of marriage.

Jennifer and Tom later moved to New York, where she built a successful career in advertising sales. Eventually, they returned to Baltimore to raise their family.

Jennifer spent many years working at Girls’ Life magazine and other publications, where her creativity and professionalism left a lasting impression.

A passionate supporter of lacrosse and especially proud of her son Tom’s accomplishments on the field, Jennifer never missed a chance to cheer from the sidelines. She was known for her warmth, loyalty, impeccable style and her ability to bring people together — whether hosting a gathering or simply brightening a room.

She loved skiing, cycling and spending time with her beloved dogs, Chico and Maeve. Jennifer is survived by her husband, Tom Brown; her son, Tom Brown IV; her mother, Rita Bernhardt; her sister, Melissa Kalish; her nieces, Chloe Kalish, Anne Arnold, Wilton Beale and Caroline Megargel; and her nephew, Zach Kalish.

She was predeceased by her cherished daughter, Olivia Brown, and her father, Len Bernhardt. Jennifer’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the medical staff at GBMC for their compassionate care and support over the years.
