Kosher banquet for Jewish war vets

A “Dining Out” kosher military banquet was held on Nov. 10, the night before Veterans Day, for Jewish war veterans in the Maryland and Washington, D.C., areas. The featured speaker was Maj. Gen. Bruce K. Scott, U.S. Army (ret.). Also present were military leadership, including the commander and vice commander of the Jewish War Veterans of America; and the commander for the Jewish War Veterans Post 360; as well as family members of the veterans. The event was held at the Kemp Mill Synagogue in Silver Spring. Clockwise, from top: Lt. Col. Jason Unger raises a glass to the assembled crowd; members of the head table; participants in the Grog Ceremony; Jewish War Veterans Post 360 and guests; and 99-year-old veteran Marvin Konick. The organization was founded in 1896 by a group of 63 Jewish veterans from the Civil War.
