On March 26, Leonard Atran of Boca Raton, Fla., at 97. He is survived by sons Scott (Ximena) and Harris (Eileen); sister Audrey (Sergio); grandchildren Tatiana, Laura (Adam), Emiliano, Shannon and Zachary; and great-granddaughter Margaux. He is predeceased by son Dean; wife Hazel; parents David and Miriam; and great-granddaughter Sonya. He loved swimming and opera, dry humor and old movies, working at Westinghouse and traveling in Europe, recalling his childhood in the Bronx and reminiscing about his army days in Panama, reading the newspaper every morning and asking guests if he could get them anything. But more importantly, he loved his family — his parents, sister, sons, and grand- and great-grandchildren. And best of all, he loved Hazel Dawn, his wife of 66 years. They met at a square dance in 1948. In one of his last conversations with the family, he said that chance encounter is what he was most grateful for in life. His wife passed away in 2017, and he has missed her ever since. Now he will be with her forever.
