A Wake-Up Call

For the third time in less than 14 months, hate has been visited upon our Jewish community in the United States (“At Least 6 Killed in Shootout at Jersey City Kosher Supermarket, Including Jews and a Policeman,” Dec. 10, 2019 Digital Exclusive). A veteran police officer and three individuals were murdered in Jersey City, N.J., this week in what can only be called a horrific anti-Semitic attack.

America’s heart is broken as we mourn the loss of these individuals. Their deaths serve as a wakeup call and a reminder that the work that calls all of us to create a world without racism, anti-Semitism, prejudice, and hatred is far from done.

My thoughts go out to the families of these victims, as well as to Jewish communities throughout the country, including here in the Baltimore area.
