Letter to the Editor: Why New York’s Mayoral Race Matters

Unfortunately, the Democratic Party does not have the backbone to stand up to the far-left fringe element that is controlling the party. Sen. Chuck Schumer is terrified of the far-left, as he is afraid that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is going to primary him when he is up for reelection.

The electorate needs to look at the candidate, their platform and what they hope to achieve if elected. Zohran Mamdani’s positions have been extreme, to say the least, and are blatantly antisemitic. Any Jewish person who supports him for mayor must have their head in the sand and foolishly believe that when the extremist’s minions start implementing his antisemitic and radical agenda, they will somehow be spared because they voted for him. How naive. Voting for or against a candidate because of their party affiliation is a very ignorant way to cast one’s vote.

Mr. Mamdani’s policies have been tried before without success in various states and nations. Rent control does not work. Ask the people in Kansas City about government-run grocery stores.

The Jewish community in New York and all over the United States must open their eyes and vote for policies that are good for the nation, ourselves, our communities and our people. Supporting a candidate like Zohran Mamdani will likely have very serious negative consequences for New York City and the Jewish community there and across the United States.
