On January 23, Martha Joan (Gleim) Bernstein, at the age of 72. She is survived by her husband, Harvey Bernstein; brothers John Gleim (Ann) and Mike Gleim (Tammy Nelson); sister-in-law Judith Miller; niece Lisa Gleim; nephews John Miller (Linda Perlstein) and Mike Montgomery (Jaid); great-nephews C.J., Milo and Hendrix; and many beloved cousins and friends.

Since 1988, Marty split her time between Baltimore and Ocean City, Md., where she loved to watch the bayside sunsets, and track the birds and dolphins. In addition to being a bird-watcher, Marty was a graphic artist, jewelry designer, hair stylist, avid reader and fantastic cook. She was known for her generosity, big heart, impeccable style and incomparable brisket. She bought birdseed 50 pounds at a time, left behind five precious cats and improved the lives of every animal that ever crossed her path.

The family wants to thank the staff of the Gilchrist Center in Towson for the grace and care they showed Marty in her last days. Contributions in her name can be made to the National Audubon Society or the animal rescue of your choice.
