On January 19, Mary W. Jacobs of Baltimore at 96. She is survived by her daughter, Miriam Boral (Haran, deceased) of Austin, Texas; her son, Lou Jacobs (Erica) of Baltimore; and five grandchildren: Tamar Jacobs (Tony Lloyd, M.D.), Eitan Boral (Michal Ziv-El), Noah Jacobs (Brittany), Ben Boral (Christine Gendron), Leah Jacobs (Jonathan Gress-Wright) and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Robert M. Jacobs; as well as her parents, Lillian and Herman Wortsman.
Mary was a graduate of Hunter High School; and Hunter College, CCNY and Teachers College. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She had a long, fulfilling career as a guidance counselor at Hackensack High School and was an avid quilter. She was a member of NOW and proudly marched in Washington in support of the ERA and abortion rights.
In retirement, she loved traveling with her husband, enjoying their second home in Garnet Hill, serving as a docent at the American Folk Art Museum and marveling at the number of her descendants. as she and her husband were both only children.
