A Baltimore County middle school teacher has been charged with sexually abusing a minor after police said he committed sexual acts with a 13-year-old female student.

Chadwick Zamarron, 35, a math teacher at Northwest Academy of Health Sciences in Pikesville, is charged with sexual abuse of a minor, perverted practice, second- and third-degree sexual offense and sex abuse by a person in authority.

Zamarron wrote hall passes for the girl to be excused from class and had a physical relationship with her from February through March, police said.

Zamarron, of the 4300 block of Breeders Cup Circle in Randallstown, is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center, police said.

Online court records indicate Zamarron does not have an attorney. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 19.

Police said detectives began an investigation last week after the student told her mother she had performed a sex act on Zamarron.

Beginning in January 2017, the girl sent sexual messages on various social media platforms to Zamarron. A friendship developed, then became physical with kissing and sexual acts taking place in Zamarron’s classroom and office, police said.
