Rosenfeld’s Jewish Delicatessen is now open in Ocean City.
Just off Coastal Highway in Ocean City, one ambitious “semi-retired” Montgomery County native, Warren Rosenfeld, is living his dream.
Growing up in a family that operated a Washington, D.C. diner, Rosenfeld always felt that as countless families flocked to Ocean City, “there was a need that hadn’t yet been filled — a Jewish deli.”
After moving to Ocean City during the summer of 2008, a “test ride for retirement” with his wife, Dana, Rosenfeld joined Temple Bat Yam in Berlin, Md. He found himself in the synagogue kitchen one Shabbat a month cooking for more than 60 congregants.
Rosenfeld’s son, noticing the nostalgic glow in his father’s face at even the slightest mention of food, suggested that he open a classic Jewish deli in Ocean City.
After meticulously analyzing the menus of the great Jewish delis from New York City to Boston, along with holding countless focus groups, Rosenfeld’s Jewish Delicatessen was born.
With dishes paying tribute to Rosenfeld’s most cherished family members, such as Papa Joe’s pastrami and corned beef alongside Papa Sali’s salami and tongue, Rosenfeld said customers can’t get enough of his kosher-style treats.
And while Coastal Highway is filled with restaurants, boutiques and miniature golf courses, all fueled by making a dollar, Rosenfeld is focused solely on his passion: food.
