Baltimore City police are investigating the death of an 86-year-old in his Levindale apartment in July as a homicide.
Ernest Curtis was found dead in his apartment at The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Place, at 2500 W. Belvedere Ave., on July 30 after officers responded for a reported sick case, according to a police news release. On Aug. 13, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner concluded that Curtis’ death was caused by asphyxiation.
The building is operated by Comprehensive Houseing Assistane, Inc.
“We’re taking the incident very seriously and we were asked by the Baltimore City police department to refer all questions to them so as to not impede their investigation,” said Mitch Posner, CHAI executive director.
Homicide detectives are actively investigating the case. Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives at 410-396-2100. Callers may remain anonymous.
