On April 1, Janice Schurgin (née Galex) of Irvine, Calif., at 99. She is survived by daughters Arell Shapiro (Adam Efron) and Beth (Don) Nathan; grandchildren Yerachmiel (Helene) Shapiro, Jordana Shapiro, Caitlin Shapiro, Carl (Victoria) Cutler, Eden Shapiro and Lee Cutler; and great-grandchildren Lila Shapiro, Avi Shapiro, Yair Barkats, Zev Shapiro and Roey Shapiro. She was predeceased by husband Carl Schurgin; siblings Wilber, Irving, Simeon and Gerald Galex; and parents Leon and Rose Galex.
