The following is a statement from Baltimore Jewish Times and its parent company Mid-Atlantic Media regarding the fatal shooting of two staff members of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday night near the Capital Jewish Museum:

We are shocked and sickened by the senseless act of violence that resulted in the tragic death of two young employees of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. This heinous attack appears to be yet another act of hate targeting the Jewish community, and we not only condemn these horrific murders but also reiterate calls for enhanced efforts to combat antisemitism in the United States and augmented security measures to better protect Jews in our nation’s capital and throughout the country. The Jewish community is in mourning after the loss of these two young individuals and we join with the entire Jewish community in extending our heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families.
