Nechama Backer, a lower school art teacher at Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School, introduced her students to the works of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who is known for her self-portraits and works inspired by nature and Mexican culture. The students celebrated Kahlo’s work on Nov. 19, when they learned how to use chalk pastels and created Kahlo-inspired magnolia flowers out of coffee filters.
