Mental illness must be unstigmatized. There are gaping invisible black holes between minutes, hours, days, months and sometimes years of indecision on whether or not to seek help. The fear of being permanently labeled or mislabeled by health professionals has tragically deterred adults and parents with children in debilitating pain from seeking treatment. The Jewish Times is to be commended for featuring Dr. Mark Komrad’s book “You Need Help: A Step-by-Step Plan to Convince a Loved One to Get Counseling” (Dec. 28).
