On Aug. 6, Harriet Broatman Horwitz at home surrounded by family at 71. She is survived by husband of 30 years Marc Horwitz; sister Andrea Glenn; and children Joshua Rivkin (Erin Beeghly), Lauren Rivkin Plotkin (Michael), Jacob Rivkin (Laura Benshoff), Caroline Horwitz Lang (Darin) and Alexandra Horwitz. She was the grandmother of Max, Luke and Jonah Plotkin, Catherine and Mia Lang and Esme Rivkin. She is preceded in death by parents Ruth and Leonard Broatman. She attended the University of Pittsburgh. She completed graduate work in speech pathology at City College of New York. As a speech pathologist she helped children read and speak with confidence.
