On Jan. 18, Sumitra S. Rao (née Balasundaram) of Stevenson at 94. She is survived by daughters Suchi (Dr. Ashok) Krishnaswamy and Pam (Dr. Peter) Lapinsky; grandchildren Leena (Suneel) Gupta and Dr. Neetha (Peter) Zwick; great-granddaughters Samara Gupta and Serena Gupta; and caregiver Dorice Hungu. She was predeceased by husband Dr. Palem S. Rao. Her passions for books and learning guided her to a long and successful career as a librarian at The Boys Latin School of Maryland. She loved traveling, going anywhere and everywhere she could to experience whatever the world could offer. Above all else, she always showed devotion and care for her family.
