On June 3, Carole D. Frank (née Rankin) of Glen Burnie at 74. She is survived by husband Tony Frank; and siblings Nanci Rankin, Barbara Hucht, Andrew Rankin and Sherri Campeggi. She was predeceased by parents Bette and Martin Rankin. Many will remember her for her smile and sense of humor. She loved to perform in public and once considered becoming a stand-up comic. She also loved the outdoors and enjoyed sailing, power boating, water skiing, windsurfing, road biking and motorcycling with Tony. Together, they sailed all over the Chesapeake Bay and hiked all over the world. Her perseverance and work ethic shone in every life situation, and not the least when she accompanied Tony to Russia on a year-long work assignment. There, during the August 1991 coup, she climbed over a barricade to get to the American Medical Center so as not to miss a job interview. She was promptly hired to provide psychological services to expatriates — one of four high-level positions she held while in Moscow. Love of people and animals prompted her to serve in many ways. She worked the coffee bar and welcome desk at several churches and volunteered at the Red Cross blood-donation center. At Anne Arundel County’s animal-control facility, she was a cat socializer. And at Success in Style, she used her fashion sense to help each job seeker find clothes that fit the career to which they aspired.
