On Oct. 5, Susan King (née Carter) of Westport, Connecticut, at 81. She is survived by husband of 59 years Robert King; children Wendy King Philips (Carl) and Jonathan King (Karen); grandchildren Anna, Emily, Jonah, Lucas and Hannah; nieces and nephews and countless friends. She was predeceased by brother Richard Canter; half-brother Michael Neuhaus; and grandson Benjamin Lautman. She was a beloved elementary school teacher and tutor who inspired and shaped the minds of generations of students. Her tenured career at Wellwood and Fort Garrison elementary schools spanned decades, allowing her to foster lifelong relationships with former students. Additionally, she was a mentor for young teachers and assisted in writing curriculum for the Baltimore County School District. Her travels throughout Maryland were routinely accompanied by shouts of “Mrs. King” from former students.
